5-string Openback banjo 11E
5 String openback banjo. Handmade no. 11a
The banjo is made from paulownia wood. Perhaps it is the only banjo in the world made from paulownia (empress tree)?
Paulownia is very light and can be compared with balsa wood. It is robust and becomes hard when varnished.
Paulownia wood is sometimes used for guitars.
This banjo has:
11-inch block rim with an integrated mahogany tone ring
Laminated neck with an ebony headstock. The neck is well suited to clawhammer style.
Quality tuners
Zero fret
12 hooks
No-knot tailpiece
The weight is extremely low for a banjo: 2.6 pounds or 1.3 kg, making it very easy to handle.
The banjo plays well, with a tone that is both powerful and crisp.
